Peeling of Two-Component Sprayed Markings

The main causes of two-component spray markings falling off include:

Reason A: The road surface is wet or the surface is dry, but the bottom is still damp and not dry

Solution: The water on the pavement is volatile and dry, and the water content test to a depth of 5cm to the ground is less than 10% before construction


Reason B: The ground treatment is not up to standard, the cleaning is not thorough, there is ash, oil, impurities, and adhesives

Solution: Before construction, special personnel need to be arranged to check the road surface and clean it thoroughly


Reason C: The hot melt old wire is not sanded clean

Solution: Before construction, the old markings need to be polished and blown, and polished twice if necessary


Reason D: The old line of the original pavement is cracked, loosened, and powdered, and the compressive strength is poor

Solution: Remove the thread before construction, remove the loose old wire and purge it thoroughly (hot melt cracking, peeling off photo)


Reason E: Partial material, single component or A and B materials cannot be mixed in equal amounts

Reason F: Use of non-special curing agents, chemical reactions occur

Solution: Use a manufacturer's specific curing agent


Reason G: Inappropriate amount of curing agent (too low or too high)

Solution: Add curing agent strictly according to the manufacturer's ratio (the amount of curing agent is too high, the marking line will be brittle, and too low will affect the hardness)


Reason H: Premature opening of traffic

Solution: Wait for the markings to harden before opening to traffic


Reason I: When the marking line is not dry, it is rained or sprinkled with water, and the marking line falls off

Solution: Arrange special personnel to close traffic and strictly prevent sprinkler trucks from sprinkling water, pay close attention to the weather conditions before construction, and the humidity is lower than 85% before construction


Reason J: The construction temperature is not suitable

Solution: The construction temperature is controlled within 5-40°C


Reason K: The deviation of the gun adjustment caused the spray width of A and B guns to not completely coincide, and the single component did not solidify, and it fell off after opening to traffic

Solution: Before construction, ensure that the gun adjustment is accurate, and the spray width of the A and B guns completely coincide

Reason M: The reticle line is too thin or uneven (low pressure of the equipment, too fast travel, cutting corners)

Solution: Increase the pressure of the equipment, and strictly follow the required thickness construction, do not cut corners to make the line thinner, and advance at a constant speed or use a booster during the construction process to ensure that the thickness of the marking line is uniform and up to standard


Reason N: Paints and hardeners are left for too long, deteriorating, affecting the quality of the markings

Solution: Carefully display the quality of the material before construction (Sanwin paint warranty period 2 years)


Reason O: Adding too much thinner affects curing and affects the adhesion of the reticle

Solution: If you need to adjust the viscosity of the paint during the construction process, you need to add it little by little, try it slowly, and the amount should not exceed 1 kg at most


Reason P: The quality of the diluent and curing agent is too poor

Solution: Use special thinners and curing agents recommended by paint manufacturers


Reason Q: The cleaning agent is mistakenly used as a thinner

Solution: The cleaning agent can only clean the equipment, not the paint


Reason R: There is a residue of cleaning fluid in the equipment pipeline, which will cause the markings to fall off.

Solution: All pipelines should be thoroughly drained before construction to prevent air and cleaning agent residues


Reason S: The nozzles of A and B guns are worn, the nozzle width and flow rate are not synchronized, and the A and B materials cannot be mixed in equal amounts

Solution: Replace the nozzle with a new one


Reason T: The nozzle model is selected incorrectly, and the thickness of the reticle is not up to standard, resulting in falling off

Reason U: The cement pavement marking is too poor or too smooth, and the markings fall off after opening to traffic

Solution: Cement pavement with a strength of less than 32.5Mpa is not recommended for construction, and too smooth cement pavement is recommended to be sanded and two-component special backer before construction


Reason V: The new cement pavement is seriously slurry

Solution: After 28 days of activation, the floating slurry on the cement surface must be sanded to remove the floating slurry and apply a sealing base oil before construction


Reason W: Porous alkaline pavement affects the reaction and curing of the underlying layer

Solution: It is recommended to apply primer before construction


Reason X: The new asphalt pavement is not dry, the solvent residue is large, and the paint reacts with the asphalt pavement and falls off

Solution: It is best to apply the new asphalt pavement after about 15 days, and apply a two-component special primer, and the amount of paint is more than 1.5 kg/square meter


Reason Y: Traffic flow and heavy truck sections: such as heavy trucks and sand trucks fall off
